St. John's Wort

Perennial, Hypericum Perforatum, A short, woody shrub with fragrant yellow flowers. Historically been used to ward off evil spirits and witches.   The oil in the leaves have been used topically for wounds, sunburns, and general aches and pains. The plant has also been used to treat mild depression and insomnia with some success. Sow seeds in the Spring after all danger of frost has passed, and lightly cover. Seeds can take up to three months to germinate. They can be propagated from seeds, cuttings or division of the roots. Partial Shade to Full Sun.
