Mallow Rose

Annual Lavatera trimestris, Tree Mallow, "cheese flower" The flowers are very pale pink or white and grow in clusters. The flowers will remind you of a hibiscus or hollyhock. Herbal use: leaves can be added to soups to thicken and flavor them. The flavor is mild, like lettuce; can also be used for teas.   Attracts butterflies and bees. Sow and cover seeds very lightly, they need light to germinate. Germinates in 10 to 15 days. Reseeds easily. Full sun to partial shade.
