Perennial, Alcea rosea 'nigra,'   Large, tall and showy 4-5” saucer shaped flowers. They have blossoms of such a deep purple, satiny color that they are regarded as "black." They open from the bottom of the stalk upwards. Excellent background plant. Deer resistant. They do not like extreme heat. Reseed easily. Sow seeds 1/8" deep and lightly cover. Germinate in 1-2 weeks.
