Catmint

Perennial, Nepeta Nervosa, Herb and flower. Catmint forms a low mound of soft gray foliage that becomes covered with lavender / blue fragrant blossoms in summer. A butterfly magnet. A fast spreading purple colored ground cover. Cats enjoy this plant as much as catnip, and its flowers furnish nectar for hummingbirds. Deer resistant and low maintenance. Likes sun and dry conditions. Start flower seed indoors 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden after danger of last frost. Or, sow in garden in full sun when frost danger is over and ground is warm and cover seed 1/8" with loose soil. Thin or transplant plants to 20" apart when they are 2" tall. Germinates in 14-21 days. Full sun or partial shade.
